Pink Sand Beaches
Harbour Island, Eleuthera
Harbour Island's Pink Sand Beach stretches for three miles along the Atlantic coast—a blush-colored paradise consistently ranked among the world's most beautiful beaches.
The distinctive pink color comes from Foraminifera, microscopic coral insects with bright pink or red shells. When these organisms die, waves crush their shells and mix them with white sand, creating the signature rosy hue that's most vivid when the sand is wet.
Arriving by yacht, you'll anchor in the protected harbor on the western side of Harbour Island and take a short tender ride or golf cart across to the beach. The contrast between the calm harbor waters and the Atlantic-facing pink sand beach is striking.
